History of Crans-Montana

Crans-Montana, born of a friendship shared by Louis Antille and Michel Zufferey, has enjoyed a meteoric rise, attracting many celebrities such as Paule Belmondo, Charles Aznavour and many others. In 1893, the opening of the first hotel, Le Parc, marked the beginning of the region's history. The exceptional quality of the air and the generous amount of sunshine attracted the first sanatoriums as early as 1899. Golf took off in 1906, followed by skiing, with the first downhill run in 1911, and then "modern" downhill skiing from 1950.

Today, Crans-Montana attracts visitors from all over the world thanks to its spectacular panorama, year-round activities and modern infrastructure. In addition to its international events, the region is also thriving economically, with a vibrant urban life and varied natural environment, making Crans-Montana a popular mountain destination in the heart of the Swiss Alps.
